I was in awe of Jesse Williams speech at BET awards yesterday. Jesse talked about racism in the industry and how we should and can overcome it by coming together as one force. He also gave a beautiful shoutout to black women and basically said the struggle continues.
Ever heard of New Edition? Well, I have and they are one of my favourite groups. They were huge In the 1980s and made songs like “Can you stand the rain” and “Hit me off.” Bobby Brown used to be part of the group until he had a falling out and went solo. BET are coming out with The New Edition Story which will be a three-part mini-series that chronicles the group’s layered history starting from day one in Boston.
Today we spent the entire day at Desucon in Lillestrøm. We had a Urban Legend stand there which was quite popular. People were flocking to us all day and almost all of the people there had already read the 1st season of The Urban Legend and where very happy with it and became fans. Some even came up and said that they rated The Urban Legend higher than Marvel and DC comics superheroes, and that made me very happy. One guy came dressed up as Urban Legend, which was supercool to see. There were some really hardcore fans of The Urban Legend and that made me very excited and pleased. Desucon was really fun to be at and tomorrow at 13.30 I´m giving a lecture on The Urban Legend and how to create your own superhero and characters.
On the 25th of June 2008, my life changed forever. That was the day my best friend Matin Haider Hussain passed away in a car accident. I was heartbroken when I heard he has been killed in a car accident and it came so sudden an unexpected. For me he was everything, my big brother and my superhero. There isnt a day that passes by without me thinking of him.
So much to do and so little time. My biggest problem nowadays is time. There are so many things to do, but i cant seem to find the time to do all of the things i want to do. Lately I have been feeling time is catching up with me as I just see it passing me by…
There is a new movie out about the life of the famous track runner Jessie Owens. Jessie Owens won four gold medals In the Olympic games In Berlin in 1936 in front of Adolf Hitler and nazi Germany. Even though representing USA and disproving Adolf Hitler´s master race theory, Jessie Owens didnt get the recognition he deserved when he returned to USA after the Olympic games.
Here is what Jessie Owens said after he participated In the Olympic games in Berlin 1936: “Some people say Hitler snubbed me. But I tell you, Hitler did not snub me. I am not knocking the President. Remember, I am not a politician, but remember that the President did not send me a message of congratulations because people said, he was too busy.”
